The dye sublimation printing process uses inks or dyes that only bond to polyester fibers. When heated, the dye goes from a solid to a gas and the polyester fibers in the garment open. The sublimation ink permeates the fiber and when the heat is removed the polyester fibers close. This creates a permanent bond. The fibers are dyed and the image is in the fabric and not on the fabric.
