Dye sublimation printer-do you know the relationship between it and consumable?

In recent years, with the continuous progress of dye sublimation printers, suppliers are constantly improving the materials used in this technology. Water-based and solvent-based sublimation inks are used more in the traditional production process. Among them, water-based inks have strong detail reproduction ability, which can bring better quality and more vivid colors to images.

However, the application of water-based sublimation printing inks in large-format output has been questioned by some people, because a large amount of water contained in these inks will inevitably penetrate into the transfer paper, causing wrinkling. This means that if a printing plant wants to print high-quality large-format products with water-based inks, it must use new paper that allows more ink to be deposited.

In order to help large format sublimation transfer printers enter the ultra-large format printing market, ink manufacturers have introduced solvent-based dye sublimation inks. This ink has superior printing stability and unparalleled color density. Many super-large format solvent-based sublimation printers can easily convert their own dye-sublimation inks into traditional solvent-based inks and use them for printing on vinyl materials. In addition, the color gamut of solvent-based sublimation inks is relatively wide, among which black is the most prominent. POP advertisements printed with this ink can meet the needs of more customers. The price of solvent-based sublimation inks is lower than that of water-based inks, but the unit printing costs of these two inks are similar, so the ink price is not an important consideration.

Textile fabric is also a more important factor. The direct thermal sublimation process requires the ink to be placed on a coated textile fabric before thermal transfer. This coating usually has a certain hardness, which is significantly different from the non-coated fabrics we see in the traditional heat transfer process. The sublimation process requires textile fabrics to have a higher polyester content, and the emergence of a large number of non-coated polyester fabrics also brings a competitive advantage to the traditional sublimation technology.
